The mountain town of Brotterode, at the foot of the Großer Inselberg, is nestled in a trough valley. Extensive meadow slopes lead to the mixed forest and mountain ridges. Brotterode is centrally located for exploring Thuringia. No matter what the guest is interested in, all important towns can be reached in 1-2 hours by car.
