Administrative Community Bad Tennstedt
Administrative Community Bad Tennstedt
The administrative community of Bad Tennstedt with its 12 member communities - Bad Tennstedt, Ballhausen, Blankenburg, Bruchstedt, Haussömmern, Hornsömmern, Kirchheilingen, Kutzleben, Mittelsömmern, Sundhausen, Tottleben and Urleben - is located in the eastern part of the "Wartburg Hainich World Heritage Region". Gentle hills, wide field landscapes and contemplative, historically venerable places characterize the region.
The town of Bad Tennstedt, as the seat of the administration and a "state-recognized place with healing springs", looks back on a history with famous personalities. J. W. Goethe enjoyed the healing sulfur water as early as 1816 and Christoph Hellwig invented the first toothbrush in Bad Tennstedt around 1700. The K² cycle path invites you to explore the member communities. From Bad Tennstedt to Kirchheilingen, it offers beautiful scenic views and two Kneipp pools. Many historic gems characterize the rural flair - among others the historic Edelhof (an old fortification with museum of local history) in Mittelsömmern, the "Dorfbackhaus" (village bakery) in Blankenburg as well as individual village churches in the communities. The erosion area in Bruchstedt is a natural monument unique in Germany. A destination for young and old is the alpaca park in Tottleben. Further information can be found on the website of the administrative community Bad Tennstedt.
