Stone church - St. Ottilien
Stone church - St. Ottilien
The ruins of the stone church were an important pilgrimage chapel before the Reformation and were dedicated to St. Ottilie, the patron saint of eye sufferers. The water for the healing is said to have been drawn from the still-preserved Ottilie spring.
The ruin stands on a basalt cone. Basalt was still being extracted here in a quarry until the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century.
