Directly after the worth seeing city park bridge in Sömmerda it goes to the left along the Mühlgraben past the swimming hall and to the road undercrossing of the B176. Here it goes past a hardware store, along the asphalt bike path that leads on the Unstrutdamm around the industrial park Sömmerda. After crossing under the railroad bridge, the route continues past the district of Wenigensömmern to the gravel pit before Leubingen (bathing opportunity). A bridge over the Lossa (tributary of the Unstrut) allows continuous travel on the Unstrut dam. In Leubingen the Lossa flows into the Unstrut.
Turning immediately left after the bridge, the trail follows an asphalt path along the Lossa dam to the Leubingen-Scherndorf country road. After crossing this road, the bike path runs first on the right Unstrutdamm, then turning parallel to the railroad line to the road to Griefstedt and further into the village.
From Griefstedt the route follows the little-used country road in the direction of Kölleda and before the next railroad crossing turns left to Büchel. On the outskirts of Büchel it goes past the sports field and continues a long left turn to the bridge over the Lossa. Behind it the Unstrutradweg turns right and follows the Lossaarm to Etzleben and further to Gorsleben.
From Bretleben from it goes on to Reinsdorf and Schönfeld, whereby the A71 is crossed twice. At the Schönfeld cyclist bridge, there is a direct connection to the Unstrut-Werra cycle path and the Kyffhäuser cycle path. The Unstrut cycle path now continues to Artern to the Aratorsee, the fishing club, the lock and the canoe club. The path crosses the federal road and runs on the embankment of the former Kyffhäuser railroad south past Artern to the old railroad bridge. Optionally, you can also turn left into the town center. At the town hall turn right across the pedestrian area and the inner city route leads back to the old railroad bridge. After crossing this, the route continues on the main line of the Unstrutradweg.
On the right side of the flood trough edge, the route continues through the Thuringian Gate between Hainleite and Schmücke. Here you have the opportunity to visit the ruins of Sachsenburg and Hakenburg or the Oldisleben sugar factory. In Sachsenburg a cycle path brings you back to the Unstrut cycle path to Oldisleben. As soon as the country road Oldisleben - Heldrungen is reached, is turned right to cross the railroad tracks. Continue to the left to the natural swimming pool Heldrungen. The Unstrut cycle path continues over the bridge of the Heldrungen bypass. At the entrance to the town to the left it goes directly to Bretleben. Beforehand, Heldrungen with its moated castle should be visited.
