The Unstrut cycle path begins at the Unstrutquelle near Kefferhausen. Here you can take a short break before you really get going. The trail leads near the river through Kefferhausen along the country road. You will pass under an impressive railroad bridge of the former Kanonenbahn. From here you can already see the Kerbsche Berg with its old monastery and church.
In Dingelstädt the Unstrut cycle path leads past the swimming pool and sports field. Immediately before the cemetery, the cycle path turns right, leads over the weir and along the Unstrut to the Orgelmühle with trout farm. Over a long millrace water is led to the big mill. You have the possibility to visit the center of Dingelstädt. Continue along the river until you cross the road at the Great Mill as well as the Unstrut itself. It goes under the town bypass and on towards Silberhausen.
At the hardware store on the outskirts of Ammern the B247 is crossed. The Unstrutradweg leads from here for the most part along the river through Ammern to Mulhouse. Here you have the opportunity to visit the historic old town with eleven Gothic churches and a preserved city wall. To get back to the bike path, follow the signs of the Werra-Unstrutradweg in the direction of the train station.
On the left bank the cycle path continues to Helmsdorfwhere it goes slightly uphill and briefly steeply downhill at the Ölberg. After a short stretch along the road, you cross the Unstrut at the next bridge and continue on the left side to Zella. The Unstrutradweg continues on the little-used country road, this time on the right bank until after Horsmar. From here it continues on the left bank. There are slight inclines on the road until after Dachrieden.
From the train station in Dachrieden, the trail goes downhill to the Unstrut bridge, where the trail turns left off the main road onto the asphalt Unstrut bike path. Here the cycle path passes the idyllic Reiser's valley with its carved figures along the way. Two impressive railroad viaducts follow.
