The Inselsbergschanze was built in 1920 - 1923 by the winter sports club Brotterode, which was founded on 1905-02-14, and converted into a K 105 meter ski jump in 2003-2005.

As a landmark of Brotterode, the FIS Continental Cup in ski jumping takes place there every year. Hill record: 123.5 m (2005 Korea).
