Nikolai church tower
Nikolai church tower
The parish church of St. Nikolai is mentioned in 1140 as the seat of the archdeacon for Pleißenland. After the church was closed in 1528, the building was dismantled down to the tower. Today, the tower stands alone as the only remnant of the former church. The lower parts of the Romanesque building were rebuilt several times. A major restoration took place from 1876-78.
The Nikolaiturm is currently not open to the public without registration. Guided tours are generally possible for groups of 12 people or more.
