Froebelwald
Froebelwald
The Fröbelwald forest adventure trail is located at the mountain station of the Thuringian mountain railroad in Lichtenhain. This trail is named after Friedrich Fröbel, who was born in neighboring Oberweißbach. Friedrich Fröbel was an educator and founder of kindergartens. In keeping with his spirit, the individual stations on the 900-metre-long trail provide information about the forest and the history of the Schwarzatal in a fun and educational way. The Fröbelwald forest appeals to all the senses, making conscious use of children's instinct for play and discovery. With Johannes the journeyman and Lotte the mouse, visitors can experience traditional crafts, rare tree species, charcoal burning and the quarry all year round. For children's groups, there are forest education programs with age-appropriate knowledge transfer about the forest and forestry work.
