The Spies family's sheep farm is located outside the village of Leimbach in the Hessian Rhön, right next to the Kegelspiel cycle path.

The Schäferei mit Herz has been in existence since 1978 as a traditional family business. Together with his son Oliver, Elmar Spies farms the Rhön mountains "Weinberg" in Hünfeld and the "Dreinberg" near Friedewald with his sheep and goats. In addition to making an indispensable contribution to landscape conservation and thus to the preservation of the Rhön cultural landscape, the animals provide tender and high-quality meat.
