Gelmeroda light sculpture
Gelmeroda light sculpture
The artist Lyonel Feininger was known, among other things, for his love of villages and their architecture in the Weimar region - which he usually explored alone on his bicycle. He was particularly fond of the church in Gelmeroda, which became famous thanks to the numerous paintings by the German-American. In 1999, a light sculpture was installed, which recreates the church after dark with the different colors of Feininger's paintings and serves as a "permanent exhibition" in memory of the Bauhaus master.
