The Webicht is a deciduous forest of ash, maple and elm to the north-east of the town. The area, which extends towards Tiefurt, was first documented in cartographic records in 1778. In the Baroque period, it was a popular princely hunting ground and venue for events. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe is said to have enjoyed visiting the forest with his daughter-in-law Ottilie. Karl Buchholz and Christian Rohls from the Weimar school of painting also drew inspiration for their motifs here. In 1945, the Gestapo carried out a mass murder of 149 prisoners of the Buchenwald concentration camp in Webicht. A memorial stone near the entrance to Tiefurt commemorates this today.
