In 1277 it was still referred to as the stone house of the mayor, from 1292-1604 it was the parish seat of the large parish of Brend-Neustadt and a monastery courtyard with several clergymen and masters of the Latin school.

The Bildhäuser Hof is located on the market square in Bad Neustadt a.d. Saale. The adult education center and the town library are located directly in the courtyard. Events are held here in the summer months (open-air cinema, readings, etc.)
