Veit-Bach-Obermühle
Veit-Bach-Obermühle
Veit Bach probably played his "Cythringen" in this place - for Johann Sebastian Bach, this was the beginning of music for his descendants. He considered making music to the beat of the mill to be particularly melodious. The Veit Bach Mill has been restored to its 1685 state and can be visited. The fact that the mill has been preserved and restored at all is thanks to the discovery of an original Thuringian plank room from 1585 during demolition work at the turn of the millennium. Demolition was halted and the entire mill was restored. Today it can be visited by appointment via the Bach-Stammhaus.
