The modern-architectural church was built in 1988-1989 in the prefabricated housing estate in the southern part of Leinefelde and consecrated in 1993. The shape, interior design and large windows are unusual for a Catholic church. The interior is kept very simple. The Stations of the Cross are represented by pictograms.
