Tabarz traditional costume exhibition
Tabarz traditional costume exhibition
The main attraction of the exhibition are the dolls in "Tabarzer Schurztracht", which was voted German Costume of the Year in 2019. There are many examples of all areas of rural life around 1850, such as the Kirmseheid (fair), shepherds' customs, working costumes, art weavers, weddings and school. Much of this is documented by stylishly dressed dolls and pictures. Of course, there are also many pictures that tell the story of the traditional costume group, which was first mentioned in 1908. In the reading hall, which is located in the upper part of the Winkelhof spa gardens, a small exhibition has been set up in honor of the Kommerzienrat Carl Ferdinand Grübel. He rendered great services to the preservation of traditional costumes and the betterment of linen and art weavers. The land on which the reading hall stands belonged to him and he donated it to the municipality of Tabarz in 1915.
