In the only preserved iron and manganese ore mine in southern Thuringia dating back to around 1900, interesting details from the history of iron mining in the Schmalkalde region are on display. During a guided tour through the 350-meter-long mine, you will see geological outcrops, miners' tools, unique fluorescent minerals and the "thumbprint of the creator". Acoustic accents round off the experience for almost all the senses.
