The ruins of Aura are located on a hill in the Saale valley, close to the edge of the forest. The stone walls with the open round arches are the remains of a church that was built on this site but never completed.

It was used as a quarry for many years before the town of Bad Kissingen recognized its value and bought the ruins from the former owner. Its history and remote location between woods and meadows make the Aura ruins a popular destination for excursions in Bad Kissingen.

After a hike through the forest to the Aura ruins, you will be rewarded with a sweeping view over the Saale valley and a piece of almost lost history.
