Regency Building Bad Kissingen
Regency Building Bad Kissingen
The Regentenbau is the landmark and cultural centerpiece of Bad Kissingen. Together with the arcade building and the Wandelhalle, it forms the center of the spa facilities. In 1911, Prince Regent Luitpold of Bavaria commissioned the Regent's Building from architect Max Littmann, as a new spa building was needed due to the massive increase in the number of guests. After only 21 months of construction, his son King Ludwig III inaugurated the building, which was built in the neo-baroque style.
The Max Littmann Hall, the Green Hall and the White Hall are located in the Regentenbau. But the foyer with the vaulted ceiling painting by Julius Mössel, which shows the Greek singer Orpheus in an African landscape, is also impressive and well worth a visit.
The Max Littmann Hall seats over 1,000 and has cherry wood paneling all around. It has outstanding acoustics and is considered one of the best concert halls in the world. The White Hall is designed in the rococo style and is one of the most beautiful halls in Bad Kissingen due to its ornate stucco ceiling, the valuable chandeliers made of chased silver with Venetian crystal and the three-metre-high music doors. The elegant Green Hall captivates with the intense color of its walls and its Art Nouveau-inspired décor.
Top-class concerts and events as well as conferences, congresses and gala events take place in the rooms of the Regentenbau throughout the year.
