City Park Sömmerda
City Park Sömmerda
In 1902, the town of Sömmerda bought the old vicarage garden (30 acres) located directly between the Unstrut and the vicarage in order to create a public garden as an oasis of peace for its citizens.
Based on the proposals of garden director Linné from Erfurt, the design of the future park was approved by the city fathers on April 6, 1903 with a budget of 1400 marks. The ceremonial handover and opening of the city park took place at Whitsun.
Today, the Stadtpark Sömmerda is a popular meeting place and green oasis near the town center. A large playground and the outdoor pool right next to the park invite you to linger.
