Luther's birthplace
Luther's birthplace
Martin Luther was born in Eisleben on November 10, 1483. The people of Eisleben were quick to cherish the memory of their town's most important son: they opened a museum for Luther pilgrims in Luther's birthplace as early as the 17th century. This makes the house the oldest museum memorial in the German-speaking world dedicated to one person.
In the exhibition "From whence I am - Martin Luther and Eisleben", over 250 exciting exhibits and the Luders' lovingly and authentically recreated home tell you about Martin Luther's family history and the mining industry in the Mansfeld region. Here you will learn how close the ties were between Luther, his parents and the region in which he grew up. Because Martin Luther was always aware of his origins.
The birthplace is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
