St. Petri and Pauli Church, in the Sömmerda district of Tunzenhausen, was first mentioned in a document in 1328. The current church building, erected in 1787, is therefore not the first building on this site. One of the previous buildings fell victim to a major village fire in 1725.

After renovation at the end of the 19th century, two extensions, the stretcher house and the sacristy, were so badly damaged in a bombing raid in 1941 that they subsequently had to be removed.

The organ was built in 1874 by the organ builder Friedrich Petersilie from Langensalza. In 1882 and 1889 it was repaired and its sound changed by the organ builder Böttcher from Sömmerda.

The congregation of St. Petri and Pauli Church is part of the Evangelical Church District of Eisleben - Sömmerda. Church services are held monthly.
