Wassily Kandinsky's apartment
Wassily Kandinsky's apartment
Born in Moscow, Wassily Kandinsky followed Walter Gropius' call to the Bauhaus in Weimar. Here he was master of form for mural painting and a teacher in the preliminary courses. Within a very short time, he became one of the most important and innovative teachers at the art school and was one of the avant-garde artists of the first half of the 20th century. His close contact with Paul Klee was very fruitful. Kandinsky lived on the second floor of the private house at the former Südstraße 3 from 1923 to 1925, as commemorated by a memorial plaque.
