Franconian Open-Air Museum Fladungen
Franconian Open-Air Museum Fladungen
Visitors to the Franconian Open-Air Museum in Fladungen gain a historical insight into people's lifestyles, building culture and Franconian village life.
The buildings are characteristic of Lower Franconia. The museum grounds cover over 12 hectares and have an outdoor exhibition area. Visitors can explore historic buildings (church, school, village inn and more) as well as gardens and greenery (herb, vegetable and flower gardens, orchards and more). The exhibition area is also home to animals such as geese, sheep and bees.
Thematic tours and audio guide
Guided tours are also offered for groups, which vary depending on the theme. There is the overview tour, all aboard, it's so green and the food and drink tour.
An audio tour of the site is also possible. You can download the corresponding files from the homepage or listen to the corresponding audios using the "Bayern hören" app. 21 sixth-graders from Mellrichstadt secondary school created the audios in May 2015. At 7 stations, you can gain a historical insight into buildings and people's everyday lives. Another attraction are the museum rallies, which allow children to get to know the museum independently and easily.
Franconian specialties and regional products
A detour to the museum inn is also worthwhile, as you can enjoy Franconian specialties here. The Brotzeitstübchen, on the other hand, offers small meals to satisfy your hunger in between meals. You can buy regional products in the Rhön farm store and museum store.
On the road with the Rhön-Zügle
The Rhön-Zügle, the historic museum railroad with steam locomotive, runs between Fladungen and Mellrichstadt stations. Here you can see the timetable and prices.
