As early as 1867, there was a two-stall engine shed with a water station building next to Arnstadt station. Today, it is not only railroad enthusiasts who are amazed by the historic engine shed at the Arnstadt railroad depot. On more than 1,000 m², a large number of nostalgic steam locomotives and diesel locomotives convey a vivid picture of a bygone technological era. In addition to the locomotives, visitors can also admire the still-functioning workshop with its forge, air hammer, lathes, drills and a historic coal furnace.
