Floor plan of the Corpus Christi Chapel

The Corpus Christi Chapel (Corpus Christi Chapel), consecrated in 1304, was located at the eastern end of the monastery cemetery. This cemetery chapel (known as the Karner) was a rectangular two-storey building with a tower. The monks used the upper floor as a place of worship and the lower vault as an ossuary. When the fortress wall collapsed at this point in 1735, it took the chapel with it - only the small tower remained standing. A new, baroque chapel was built on its western side. It is said that Napoleon later had the old chapel tower donated to the parish church in Dittelstedt, where it has served as a bell tower since 1812. It is not known whether the chapel was removed when the tower was dismantled or only after the fortress was shelled in 1813. Its foundations have been visible in the ground since 2013.
