Neuhaus am Rennweg town church (wooden church)
Neuhaus am Rennweg town church (wooden church)
Wooden churches have a long tradition in Neuhaus am Rennweg. A baroque church was consecrated here as early as the 17th century, although it no longer exists today. With the increasing population and the need for a correspondingly larger church, construction of the town's now particularly popular and well-known wooden church began in 1891. The church was consecrated on August 28, 1892, with space for 400 people.
The wooden church is a "narrative church". Here, Jesus' words from the Gospel of John 15 , 5 "I am the vine, you are the branches" are artistically realized. This is particularly evident in the chandelier, the pulpit and the windows.
The Neuhäuser church is an ecumenical building and is also used by the Catholic parish. The Christians of this town are very grateful for their place of worship. Its plain and simple design has made it a landmark of the town on the Rennsteig.
Guided tours for individuals or groups are available on request from the Tourist Information Office in the Thuringian Forest Shop.
