The sculpture group, the "Fortuna Fountain", was inaugurated on the Obermarkt on October 2, 2014.

Sculptor and artist Professor Wolfgang Dreysse's "Fortuna" figure group focuses on the industrial development of Sömmerda and the region since the early 19th century.

The Fortuna Fountain Sömmerda is the second work by the sculptor to be erected in Sömmerda.

The bronze sculptures are complemented by a fountain with a water feature.

The "Fortuna Fountain" circle of friends was founded in 2012 by interested citizens from Sömmerda and the region to finance the town's own contribution - subsidies were provided by the federal and state governments - for the "Fortuna" art object.
