When we talk about modern sport climbing in the Thuringian Forest, we're talking about the Hülloch. The 20-metre high and 25-metre overhanging rock grotto made of conglomerate has the steepest and most athletic routes in the entire Free State ready for you. The „Loch“ offers 45 routes up to grade 11-. On most of the routes, you move along large holds (handles, holes and ledges) on the ceiling of the cave. Stamina and the size of your upper arms often make the difference between success and defeat. In the route Level 3 8+ you can test your fitness level. The routes Fusion 9, Lagrima 10 and Sophisticated 11- are among the absolute milestones of Thuringian sport climbing and are highly recommended for those who can do it. To the left and right of the rock grotto, the climbing is more leisurely. Here you will find beautiful climbs between the 3rd and 7th grade. Inside the cave, all climbs are equipped with „Fixexes“, which makes it easier for you to dismount. The base of the wall can be reached comfortably within two minutes. Despite the nearby Oberhof road, an unforgettable nature experience is guaranteed.
