Zeulenroda Municipal Museum
Zeulenroda Municipal Museum
In 27 exhibition rooms, the history of the town is shown from its settlement in 1250 to the first documentary mention in 1325 and the granting of town rights in 1438.
The exhibition presents many examples of craftsmanship, especially furniture making and stocking knitting. The period rooms, ranging from Biedermeier and Art Nouveau to living rooms from the last century, tell of the way of life of the people of Zeulenroda. You can also see rooms such as an originally furnished schoolroom, a farmhouse parlor, a 19th century kitchen and a general store that was in operation from 1850-1932. Technical inventions, such as the world's first quartz clock (developed by Zeulenroda professor Adolf Scheibe), can also be seen alongside many other exhibits. The house was handed over in 2005 after a complete renovation and modernization as a completely barrier-free facility. During the school vacations, there is a wide range of educational activities on offer.
