As part of a renaturation project for an old branch of the Saale, the water adventure site was created at the sports field in Orlamünde.
Young and old alike can experience the effects of human intervention in the course of the Saale here. On one side, you can see the natural course of the Saale as it slowly meanders through the valley, overflowing its banks in some places. The other side shows the current, straightened course of the river. The villages between Orlamünde and Jena are recreated with miniature buildings. Water can be pumped and visitors can see how quickly or slowly the Saale flows and how threatening flooding can be. Environmental education is brought to life here.
