Nordhausen gravel water
Nordhausen gravel water
Gravel extraction has created a unique water landscape with several lakes in the south of the town of Nordhausen. Deep and clear lakes are ideal for swimming and diving, such as the supervised bathing beach at Bielener Kiesgewässer and the diving center at Sundhäuser See and Möwensee. The gravel lakes have also developed into a valuable habitat.
The lido at Bielener Kiesgewässer is one of the outdoor pools in Nordhausen. Bathers will find large sunbathing lawns around the lake with playgrounds and beach volleyball courts.
The clear Nordhausen gravel lakes are also very popular with divers. Underwater visibility is exceptionally good. The varied underwater landscape with rich plant life, teeming schools of fish and crabs make every dive an experience. Divers can also discover the specially designed underwater city of Nordhusia, wrecks and art in the lake. The Nordhausen Diving Center offers a comprehensive service on site, ranging from equipment hire and trial dives in the indoor pool to special diving courses.
