Old malthouse
The
Alte Mälzerei is a Wilhelminian-style building complex consisting of residential and malting buildings, an annex used as a coffee roasting plant, as well as storage and ancillary buildings in Eisenach in Thuringia. The largely completely preserved technical equipment from the company's founding period is remarkable. The industrial monument has been owned by the Lippmann+Rau Foundation for Music Research and Art since 2016.
At the end of the 20th century, the former (brewery) malt and malt coffee factory integrated various cultural uses: the Lippmann+Rau music archive, an international archive for jazz and popular music, a jazz club, a small museum and a coffee roasting plant. The oldest jazz club in eastern Germany hosts around 40 concerts a year, ranging from jazz and blues to rock and folk. The live jazz concerts in the impressive double-vaulted jazz cellar are legendary and unforgettable.
