The Salvatorkirche on the Nicolaiberg in Gera, near the market square, towers high above the city. Its baroque exterior shines after extensive renovation work. But the special feature is inside: after renovation work in 1903, the interior was redesigned in Art Nouveau style by Adolf Marsch. The altar and pulpit were created by the Leipzig sculptor F. Schmeißer. The combination of Baroque and Art Nouveau is unique in this form.
