Listening station Bach organ Altenburg (tourist information)
The interactive experience station in front of the Altenburger Land Tourist Information Office invites visitors to listen to original Bach works. By stepping on the "organ pedal", visitors generate electricity themselves, causing music to sound. The module is accessible free of charge.
Johann Sebastian Bach, Leipzig's most famous Thomaskantor, was a guest at Altenburg Castle Church in September 1739. There he was to use his expertise to test the almost completed organ built by the ducal court organ builder Tobias Heinrich Gottfried Trost. For his part, Bach showed great appreciation for the lovely sound of the church organ, which can still be experienced today.
Would you like to send a few melodious notes out into the world and try your hand at playing the organ? Then head to the Altenburg market, in front of the tourist information office and get on the organ pedal!
