Herbsleben local history museum
Herbsleben local history museum
In 1991, a local history museum was established in Herbsleben, which initially exhibited donated or borrowed objects from the townspeople. Over the years, it has developed into an important museum of local history. The model of the castle, which was demolished in 1958, can be viewed. The finds from the castle ruins provide an insight into over 1250 years of history. In addition to the documentation on the customs of the village, the over 200-year-old clockwork of the old town hall clock and its bell are particularly fascinating. Numerous handicraft skills, which are hardly known today, give an insight into the arduous life of over 100 years ago. The history of the GDR is also told and documented. The exhibition attempts to preserve the memories of older citizens and to illustrate the past to young people.
