Heart-shaped city wall Bad Neustadt
Heart-shaped city wall Bad Neustadt
The town wall in Bad Neustadt an der Saale is a 1.5 kilometer long fortification ring that was built in 1232 and surrounds the entire old town. The town wall was extended even further in the 16th century. The kennel wall, with its three round towers and moat area, has been completely preserved to this day. There are 3 access roads to the old town.
The special feature of the town wall is that the layout of the wall is reminiscent of a heart shape. Bad Neustadt's landmark - the Hohntor - stands at the top of the heart-shaped town wall.
