Heldburg is a town in the district of Hildburghausen in the far south of Thuringia. It is located in the center of the Heldburger Land region, is the administrative seat of the Heldburger Unterland administrative community and has a population of just under 3,500, of which around 1,000 live in the Heldburg district.

Above the town is the Veste Heldburg fortress with the German Castle Museum, which opened in 2016.
