From 1906, the village church in Gelmeroda attracted particular attention from the German-American artist Lyonel Feininger. The slate-covered tower prompted the Bauhaus master to depict it a hundred times. Today, the idyllic village church is surrounded by a light installation that glows in the dark. Spotlights, lamps and colors make the building look like Feininger's paintings. An exhibition on Feininger can be seen in the church gallery. There is also a small organ.
