Eisenach State Theater
Eisenach State Theater
With its two sections of young drama and ballet, the Landestheater Eisenach sets important cultural accents in Eisenach and the region. It has been part of the Eisenach-Meiningen Cultural Foundation since 2009. The classicist theater building was built in 1879 and has 501 seats. Around 76 employees from over 15 nations work at the Landestheater.
The diverse program of its own divisions for audiences aged 2 and up, with 9-11 premieres per season, is complemented by musical theater productions from the Meiningen State Theater and drama performances from the Rudolstadt Theater. The Thüringen Philharmonie Gotha-Eisenach accompanies the ballets, performs symphony concerts and special concert programs. The ballet ensemble also shows its choreographies at the Meininger Staatstheater and the Junges Schauspiel brings children's and youth theater to Theater Rudolstadt. These collaborations between the theaters, supplemented by top-class guest performances, enable the Landestheater Eisenach to offer a varied, high-quality repertoire.
Jens Neundorff von Enzberg will take over the general directorship of the theaters in Eisenach and Meiningen at the start of the 2021/2022 season. Long-standing ballet director Andris Plucis continues his work in Eisenach. The Junges Schauspiel under the new direction of Jule Kracht realigns its repertoire.
