Opened in 1996, the Herbigshagen estate is a much-visited center in the southern Lower Saxony region. As a Regional Environmental Education Center (RUZ), the charming estate is also an important extracurricular place of learning. The nature experience center combines the core themes of the Heinz Sielmann Foundation with the historical and ecological regional conditions. This is also reflected in the "Days of Diversity" and "School Farm" programs.

Visitors to Gut Herbigshagen can take a guided tour or go on their own on a journey of discovery and get to know the local flora and fauna better. The adventure stations include the show barn with rare breeds of domestic and farm animals, the farm garden, the bee house and the insect nesting wall, a fallow deer enclosure and much more.
