Garden monument Lindenbühl
Garden monument Lindenbühl
The Lindenbühl was first mentioned in 1316 and is named after the linden trees planted on the moat and bühl = hill. As part of the fortifications, it fulfilled important defensive functions for the medieval imperial city for many centuries. In the 19th century, the horticultural inspector A. Pollex transformed it into a promenade. Numerous villas were built along the green belt and in 1867 parts of the city wall were demolished for the construction of the new municipal high school - today the Mühlhausen Museum.
