Martini Church
Martini Church
Construction of the church dedicated to St. Martin in front of the Erfurt Gate began shortly before 1358. A short time later, it came to the Teutonic Order and was incorporated into the Church of St. Blaise on Untermarkt. The youngest of the medieval Mühlhausen suburban churches has an imposing choir. Paintings from around 1364 and 1450 have been preserved in the tower chapel on the north side, which opens outwards. The sculpture there commemorates the first formation of the opposition in Martini in the fall of 1989. The church was completely renovated in 2012 for use as a Protestant youth church.
