The municipality of Wehnde is located on the western slope of the Ohm Mountains and was first mentioned in documents in 1238. On the hiking route from Duderstadt to Bodenstein Castle is the 14-metre-high tower of the Wehnder Warte, which has a viewing platform. Also worth seeing is the small, idyllically situated Protestant church and the altar and ceiling paintings in the church.
