Buchfart mill and wooden bridge
Buchfart mill and wooden bridge
The covered wooden bridge over the Ilm, built in 1816-1818, is a special sight in the village. The listed bridge has a length of 43 meters, a width of three meters and a clearance height of 3.05 meters. The bridge is still passable.
Next to the bridge is a listed watermill. The mill has been extensively renovated. A water wheel is once again in operation at the mill, which is used to drive the milling machines and generate electricity. Old machine technology worth seeing is used again today to produce flour and baking meal. Old gear drives and transmissions are used to drive the milling machines. As has been the case for centuries, the machines are driven by water power.
In the adjoining mill store (Schenkgasse 23) you can buy freshly ground flour or freshly baked goods made from it. Other regional products and a snack bar complete the store's offer.
The mill and bridge ensemble is one of the most popular photo motifs in the region.
