The former castle seat, now known as "Schloss", used to be called "Haus auf dem Wall". From the beginning of the 16th century until 1976, it was owned by the von Minnigerode family. Until the town was renovated in the second half of the 20th century, the manor house was surrounded by various farm buildings. The gatehouse was demolished together with other parts of the farmstead in 1975. Today, the "castle" belongs to the village of Gieboldehausen and is used as a registry office and for various cultural purposes following a thorough renovation between 1987 and 1991.
