Until 1695 Wendehausen belonged as a branch to the parish of Diedorf. Documents about the first Christian place of worship are missing, but it can be assumed that Wendehausen already enjoyed the right of baptism and burial before the separation from Diedorf, because the baptismal font bears the date 1570 and has artistic value with its unknown stonemason's mark.
