German-German Museum Mödlareuth

The Museum Mödlareuth sees itself as a museum project on the history of German division. After the founding of the museum in 1990, it soon became necessary to divide the overall project "Museum Mödlareuth" into manageable and realizable project units for financial and time reasons, which, coordinated with each other, ultimately represent building blocks on the way to the overall project.

Accordingly, at the same time as the construction of an open-air site, from 1991 to 1994, work began on building a "museum infrastructure" in the form of administration, archives, library and depots.

The existing depot areas were expanded in 1997/98 with the construction of a new vehicle depot.

From 1999 to 2003, remodeling and renovation measures created two film/lecture rooms, a special exhibition room, as well as an information desk and a museum store.
