The village of Wolfsbehringen, situated at the foot of the Kindel, was first mentioned in documents between 775 and 786. Where the name Wolfsbehringen really comes from remains a mystery of history: Either it is owed to a gentleman Wolf von Bahrungen, who is said to have built the first facility here, or to many wolves that stayed in the Kindel forest.
