The Fockendorf Paper Museum is currently the only one of its kind in Thuringia. It is located, together with the local history museum, in the listed buildings of the former paper factory.

Paper production is vividly illustrated in the museum, above all by a functioning experimental paper machine, a handmade paper workshop and many other exhibits. There is also a collection of handmade paper with watermarks, comprising more than 1000 sheets dating from 1500 to modern times. In addition, numerous sample sheets and sample booklets of various types of paper are on display. It is also possible to watch various video films and DVDs on paper production and history.

The museum of local history and the paper museum are physically separate but connected.
