Tourist information Schleusingen
The town of Schleusingen lies in the valley of the Erle, Nahe and Schleuse rivers on the southern slopes of the Thuringian Forest. The town center and its 17 districts not only offer a fascinating landscape, but there is also a lot to discover culturally.
The image of the town is dominated by Bertholdsburg Castle. It has been the town's landmark since the 13th century. Today it houses the Bertholdsburg Castle Natural History Museum. The market square with the town hall and the market fountain characterize the image of the historic old town. A highlight for visitors is the castle and town festival with the traditional high school graduation ceremony.
Schleusingen borders the UNESCO Thuringian Forest Biosphere Reserve. There are wonderful views and hiking trails at numerous heights that invite you to explore. In the summer months, the area around the Ratscher mountain lake with the longest bathing beach in the region attracts visitors from near and far. In winter, numerous cross-country ski trails lead into the Little Thuringian Forest and up to the Rennsteig.
We look forward to welcoming you!
